When Ben saw the extra earning potential on his family farm he ran with it! But in northern Vermont he face extra challenges to his pasture raised product. For example, his growing season is much shorter than most of the country. To help him to he built a finishing barn for his pigs so that in the summer they can live most of their life outside but the last month is spent in an open air barn. This helps his maintain his supply to his main customers, butcher shops and grocery stores. For his cattle, he is testing out gps collars for invisible fence lines. Using his phone, he can move his cows to the next paddock in their grazing rotation. He is working through some of the learning curve of having these collars but mostly he is excited and pleased with how they are working.
