Testing the Shafts: My Experience I had the opportunity to test all three Denali shafts using the Cobra DS adapt head, set at a 9° loft. It was a fascinating experience to see how each shaft performed under similar conditions. Testing the Black Shaft Starting with the Black shaft, I recorded a club speed of 92 mph, with a ball speed of 135 mph. The carry distance was 215 yards, with a total distance of 240 yards. Interestingly, my angle of attack was slightly negative, meaning I was hitting down on the ball. This could explain why I experienced less distance with this shaft. Despite its low launch and low spin characteristics, it ended up being the shortest of the three shafts for me. Testing the Blue Shaft Next up was the Blue shaft. I noticed a slight increase in club speed, which could be attributed to the shaft’s characteristics. The ball speed improved slightly, and I found that my angle of attack was a bit higher. As a result, I carried the ball further, reaching a total distance greater than the Black shaft. The Blue shaft’s mid-level firmness seemed to provide the right balance for my swing, allowing for better overall performance. Testing the Red Shaft Finally, I swung the Red shaft, which is designed for higher launch and spin. Surprisingly, I recorded my lowest spin rate with this shaft, likely because the active tip section helped me hit up on the ball more effectively. This resulted in the longest carry and total distance, alongside the fastest ball speed and swing speed during my tests. The Red shaft clearly stood out as the best performer for my swing style. Choosing the Right Shaft for You When it comes to selecting a shaft, it’s crucial to focus on how each profile suits your swing dynamics rather than just the general characteristics of low launch, low spin, or high launch, high spin. It’s about finding the shaft that complements your club delivery. Based on my testing, if I were to recommend a shaft for myself, the Red shaft would be the clear choice.
